Oil
Painters of America (OPA) represents more
than 3,400 artists throughout the United States,
Canada and Mexico. OPA is dedicated to preserving
and promoting excellence in representational art.
Its primary focus is to draw attention to the lasting
value of fine drawing, color, composition and the
appreciation of light.
This show features approximately
100 paintings by some of North America’s best oil
painters including Master Signature Members, as well
as some of today’s most talented emerging artists.
Acceptance into the regional shows
has become increasingly difficult. For this year's
eastern regional exhibition, OPA received approximately
800 entries.
The paintings are juried into the exhibition by a Jury
of Selection Committee, comprised of two Master Signature
artists and three Signature artists. "When you
are drawing from professional artists from across the
eastern seaboard and beyond, it is understandable that
the quality of work is going to be exceptional." said
John Michael Carter OPA, chair of the selection committee.
Galleries that are considered to host regional or national
exhibitions must be of the highest caliber. “Oil Painters
of America is very excited to be coming to Orleans,
Massachusetts for the first time,” said OPA president
and Master Signature member Neil Patterson, “We know
that Addison Art Gallery has an exceptional reputation
and we couldn’t be more delighted to have them host
this year’s regional exhibition.”
Total cash awards for
this year’s Eastern Regional are $11,500 including
a $4,000 Best of Show. The Awards Presentation will
take place at 6:30. |
