Artist’s
Statement
Throughout my 25 year career, I have worked with 35mm film along side my abstract
paintings and sculpture. For the past ten years, I have worked on abstract
methods to create photographic images that appear painterly. Using SX 70 and
600 Plus Polaroid film, I manipulate the images with a pointed instrument as
the film is developing. I push the image further by loosely oil painting onto
parts of the image.
My book, Dog in the Dunes, is a series of forty painted Polaroids
of my black Labrador during an artist residency in a dune shack on Cape Cod.
My work now includes collaged photographs. The photographs are taken, cut,
laid out and pasted to create a larger photograph. I am currently working on
a new book, Family Photos and Friends, of collaged paintings of dogs
in humorous settings. |
