“This body of work is the result of a year’s worth of exploration in theory, color and hierarchy. I experimented with limited palettes like the one Anders Zorn used as well as replacing primaries with alternating temperatures. The works are a departure from my direct plein air, alla prima process and focused on the interior domestic environment of my home as a subject. I set aside two years to earn my MFA — a dream I have had for many years — and promised myself to open my creative process in order to grow more as an artist. The team of professors I’m working with at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth have been an enormous help and have given me advice to last a lifetime.” — Robert Abele
