Celebrate our Waters Plein Air Painting

As part of the 2018 Celebrate our Waters weekend, the Addison Art Gallery is sponsoring plein air painting, a fresh paint exhibition, book signing, reception and demonstration. Artists from Cape Cod and beyond will be painting at waterside sites around Orleans including Rock Harbor, Little Pleasant Bay at Paw Wah Landing, Town Cove and Pleasant Bay Community Boating. Their wet paintings will be brought to the Addison Art Gallery for an exhibition and reception from 4 to 6.

Celebrate our Waters Artists’ Reception, Demonstration and Book Signings

Amy Sanders will demonstrate building depth and luminosity with pastel as she works towards bringing a painting to life through multiple layers. Pastel particles retain their individuality within layers. If carefully layered using strokes in a variety of colors, weights and direction, light bounces among the particles creating a unique radiance. Susan Overstreet Painting Demonstration

Susan will demonstrate how she uses a plein air study in oil as reference for a larger studio piece in acrylic, discussing the influences and techniques incorporated in her spontaneous and evolving style. Questions are encouraged and will add to the event.
